The GMX Water Softener System is not designed to filter your water. The GMX Devices are designed to replace the salt based unit only, not the reverse osmosis unit that must be installed with a salt based softener to remove the salt from your drinking water. A reverse osmosis unit is not needed with GMX.

How to select the correct GMX water
softener system for your home.

The size of the GMX system is based on the capacity (gallons) of your water heater only. The size of the GMX system is not based on the hardness of your water, the size of your home, or the amount of water you use. The GMX system has no consumables, therefore, the amount of water you use, or your water's hardness, makes no difference. GMX is effective to 55 grains per gallon (940 ppm) of hardness. With the GMX system, all the cold water is fully treated with two GMX devices placed over the main incoming cold water line as it enters your home. The key factor with a GMX system is how long the hot water remains in your water heater after it has been treated and heated.
